Privacy Policy

MEDEV Studios ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Weight Tracker mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our App.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. Weight Tracker is designed with a privacy-first architecture — the App functions entirely on your device with no server-side component, no user accounts, and no cloud synchronization of its own.

Weight Tracker does not collect, process, or transmit any of the following:

• Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
• Location data or GPS coordinates
• Device identifiers, advertising IDs, or fingerprints
• Health or biometric data to external servers
• Usage analytics, crash reports, or behavioral data
• Cookies, tracking pixels, or any third-party tracking mechanisms

The App stores the following data locally on your device only, using an on-device SQLite database, app preferences, and (for progress photos) the App's private file storage:

• Weight & Body Composition — Your logged weight values and optional notes, body fat percentage, muscle mass (lean body mass), body water percentage, bone mass, basal metabolic rate, visceral fat, body age, and protein.
• Body Measurements — Circumferences of your waist, hips, chest, bicep, thigh, and neck.
• Goals — Your target weight, target date, start weight, and goal completion status.
• Hydration — The amounts of water you log, with their dates, and your daily hydration goal.
• Progress Photos — Photos you choose to add. The App keeps a resized copy in its private storage.
• Daily Steps & Workouts — Your daily step counts and exercise session details (duration, type of activity, active calories burned) synced from Health Connect.
• Health Readings — Daily resting and average heart rate, sleep duration, blood oxygen (SpO2), and body temperature synced from Health Connect, and the stress level you log yourself.
• Profile Settings — Your age, gender, height, preferred language, weight unit (kg/lbs), decimal precision, daily reminder preferences, display preferences, and Health Connect synchronization settings.

The App does not send this data anywhere, and it is not accessible to MEDEV Studios or any third party. If backup is turned on for your Android device, Android's automatic backup includes the App's database and settings in your Google account's device backup and in device-to-device transfers. Progress photos are excluded from that cloud backup, but are included in a direct device-to-device transfer.

You can delete individual entries and photos in the App, erase everything the App stores on your device with Profile → Data Management → Delete all data, or uninstall the App. Deleting all data does not remove records already in Health Connect; manage those in Health Connect itself.

Weight Tracker uses the following device permissions:

• Notifications — Used solely to deliver the optional daily weight logging reminder that you configure. No data is sent externally.
• Boot Completed — Used to reschedule your daily reminder after a device restart or an App update. The reminder uses Android's standard (inexact) alarm, which needs no exact-alarm permission. No data is collected or sent.
• Health Connect Permissions — If you choose to enable the Google Health Connect integration, the app will request read and write permissions for Weight, Body Fat, Lean Body Mass, Body Water Mass, Basal Metabolic Rate, Bone Mass, and Hydration, and read-only permissions for Steps, Exercise Sessions, Active Calories Burned, Heart Rate, Resting Heart Rate, Sleep, Oxygen Saturation, and Body Temperature. Only read and write access to Weight is required for sync; you can grant or deny each of the others. These permissions allow the app to perform bi-directional local sync of your weight, body composition, and hydration, and to read your steps, workouts, heart rate, sleep, blood oxygen, and body temperature.
• Photos — The App does not request camera or storage permissions. Progress photos are chosen through Android's system photo picker, which gives the App access only to the photos you select.
• Wake Lock, Foreground Service, and Network State — Added automatically by Android's WorkManager library, which the home-screen widget relies on. They do not give the App internet access. No data is collected or sent.

Notification and Health Connect permissions can be revoked at any time through your device's Settings app (Health Connect access can also be managed in Health Connect itself). The App will continue to function without them, except that reminders and Health Connect sync stop working.

Weight Tracker provides CSV and JSON export/import of your weight entries, and a full backup file (JSON) that you can save and restore. The full backup contains your profile settings, weight entries, body measurements, goals, and hydration logs; it does not include progress photos or the steps, workouts, and health readings synced from Health Connect. These operations are performed entirely on your device using the Android Storage Access Framework.

You can also share a CSV file, a PDF progress report, or a short text summary of your progress through Android's share sheet. The App hands it only to the app you pick there.

Exported files are saved to a location you choose. The App does not upload any data to a server during this process; if you choose a cloud storage location or share a file with another app, that service or app handles it under its own privacy policy. Exported files are not encrypted, and you are solely responsible for the security of your exported files.

Weight Tracker does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. There are no SDKs from Google Analytics, Firebase, Facebook, or any other data collection platform.

The App does not make any network requests and does not have Android's internet permission. It operates entirely offline. Its typeface (Inter) is requested from the downloadable-fonts service built into Google Play services on your device, which may download the font from Google; the App's request names only the font and contains none of your data.

Weight Tracker stores and syncs health-related data (weight measurements, height, body composition, body measurements, hydration, progress photos, daily steps, workout sessions, heart rate, sleep, blood oxygen, body temperature, and stress level) exclusively on your device, subject to your own Android device backup described in Section 03. This data is classified as sensitive personal information.

If you choose to enable the Google Health Connect integration, the app will read and write data to/from Health Connect locally on your device: it writes the weight, body composition, and hydration entries you log, and reads the record types listed in Section 04. While sync is on, deleting or clearing an entry in the App also deletes the matching records the App wrote to Health Connect. The app uses this data solely to display your health history, calculate streaks, visualize weight and body composition trends in-app, and include it in exports and reports that you create.

Since we never collect, upload, or transmit this data, we do not act as a data controller or processor. You retain full ownership and control of your health data at all times.

Weight Tracker does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since the App does not collect data of any kind, it is compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar regulations.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
