Chef Survivor

Last Updated: October 19, 2026

1. Summary

Chef Survivor has nothing for sale — no in-app purchases and no billing of any kind. It is funded by rewarded video ads that only ever play when you press a button asking for one. There are no banners, no interstitials, and nothing on a timer.

The game's own code sends a small set of anonymous gameplay events to Google Analytics for Firebase (section 4) — never your name, email or location. Two optional Google services can be involved if you choose them: Google AdMob, which serves those rewarded videos, and Google Play Games, which provides leaderboards and cloud save.

This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use Chef Survivor (the "Game", package com.medevstudios.chefsurvivor), published by Medev Studios ("we", "our", "us") on Google Play. By downloading or using the Game, you agree to this policy.

2. Ads

The only ad format in the Game is rewarded video, and it appears in sixteen places, each of them a button that states what it gives you:

  • +75% coins for a finished run
  • Continue a run that has ended
  • Reroll an upgrade hand
  • Take two cards from one upgrade hand
  • A short boost offered on a card during a run — the game does not stop for it, and the card goes away on its own if you ignore it
  • Double a treasure chest
  • One free boost before a run
  • Try a locked chef
  • Try a locked kitchen
  • Swap a daily order
  • A second payout for a calendar stamp
  • A second payout for a weekly order
  • The daily bonus
  • Triple the coins in the lobby's tip jar
  • Open one of the lobby's supply crates
  • Finish the coins an upgrade is a little short of

The Game never starts an ad on its own. How many you see is entirely your choice, and skipping every one of them costs you no content — every stage, chef, weapon and mode is reachable without watching a single ad.

Ads are served by Google AdMob. To do that, the AdMob SDK reads your device's advertising ID and shares ad interaction data with Google as the ad network. This is processed under the Google Privacy Policy. You can reset or delete that identifier at any time in Settings → Google → Ads on your device, where you can also opt out of ad personalisation — you will still see ads, but non-personalised ones.

2.1 If you are in the EEA or the UK

No ad is requested before you have been asked. On first launch the Game shows Google's consent form, and the ad SDK does not start unless your answer allows it. If you refuse, if the form fails to load, or if you have no network, the result is the same: the ad buttons never appear and the Game behaves exactly like an ad-free build. You can reopen your choice at any time from Settings → Ad privacy.

3. Google Play Games (optional)

If you sign in (on the main menu, or in Settings → Google Play Games), Play Games Services provides:

  • Leaderboards — your best results are submitted to Google so they can be ranked: endless survival time, career kills, best combo, and daily-run kills.
  • Cloud save — a copy of your progress is stored with your Play Games profile so a new device can restore it.
  • Sign-in — handled entirely by Google. The Game never sees your credentials, email address, or name; Google associates a Play Games player ID with your account.

Declining, or never touching it, changes nothing else — the whole Game works offline. There is no separate "guest mode" because not signing in costs you nothing. You can sign out or delete this data from your Google account's Play Games settings at any time.

4. Analytics

Starting with version 1.0.7, the Game uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how it is played: which modes and difficulty levels are chosen, how runs end, and which of the optional ad buttons are pressed and whether the video then paid its reward. That is what shapes balance changes and what keeps every ad optional.

  • Events carry identifiers and counts only — a chef id, a stage id, a level reached, a coin total. No name, email address, location, contacts, or free text is ever included.
  • Firebase assigns the installation a random app instance ID and records its own standard events (first open, session start, app update) with device model and OS version. The Game has switched off Firebase's collection of the advertising ID; only the ad SDK in section 2 reads that identifier.
  • If the Game crashes or stops responding, Firebase Crashlytics sends a report: the stack trace (including one from the game engine's native code), device model, OS version, free memory, and the same anonymous gameplay events from the minutes before, so the fault can be found and fixed. It is switched on and off together with analytics, under the same consent.
  • In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, analytics is not switched on until you have answered the same consent form that governs ads, and it follows the choice you make there. The events are processed under the Google Privacy Policy.
  • You can reset the app instance ID by clearing the Game's data or uninstalling it; either also ends the collection for that installation.

5. What the app stores on your device

Your progress is written to the app's own private storage, which no other app can read:

  • Which chefs, stages, and modes you have unlocked
  • Coins, permanent upgrades, and chef mastery levels
  • Goals completed and monsters seen
  • Best times, best scores, and lifetime totals such as runs played
  • Your chosen language, audio and graphics settings
  • When you last took the daily bonus, emptied the lobby's tip jar or opened a supply crate — clock times kept on the device, so these timers work offline
  • A local diagnostic log of gameplay events (run started, run ended, and similar). This file never leaves your device, is capped in size, and is explicitly excluded from backup. The same events are what section 4 describes going to Firebase; the file is the on-device copy.

None of this includes your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts, or any other information that identifies you.

6. Backup

If Android's own backup feature is switched on, the operating system copies your save file to your personal Google Drive backup so a new phone can restore your progress. This is done by Android, not by Chef Survivor, and the developer has no access to it. The local diagnostic log is excluded from backup.

You can turn this off under Settings → Google → Backup, or delete the backup from your Google account at any time.

7. Children

Chef Survivor is not directed to children under 13. It serves advertising and the ad SDK reads an advertising identifier, so it is not suitable as a child-directed app. There is no chat, no user-generated content, and no way to contact other players inside the Game. If you believe a child has provided information through this app, contact us and we will act on it.

8. Purchases

There are none. Play Billing is not part of this app: there is no billing dependency, no billing permission, and no code path that can take money. Coins are earned by playing, or by choosing to watch a rewarded video.

9. Deleting your data

  • Uninstalling removes everything the app stored on your device.
  • Settings → Reset Progress wipes your progress from inside the Game; it asks you to tap it a second time to confirm.
  • To remove your leaderboard and cloud-save data, delete the Game's data from your Google account's Play Games settings.
  • To remove any copy Android's backup service made, delete the app's backup from your Google account.
  • To have analytics data tied to your installation deleted, contact us with the request; the app instance ID is shown nowhere, so tell us roughly when and on what device you played and we will do what Firebase's deletion tools allow.

10. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:

  • The right to access information collected about you
  • The right to request deletion of your data
  • The right to opt out of personalised advertising
  • The right to data portability

To exercise these rights, please contact us at the email address below.

11. Changes to this policy

If a future version adds a feature that changes any of this, the policy will be updated before that version is published, and the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will change.
