Bouncy Buddies
Last updated: October 8, 2026
Overview
At MEDEV Studios, your privacy is paramount. Bouncy Buddies is designed with a local-first philosophy: it needs no account, MEDEV Studios runs no server for it, and your progress and settings are stored on your device. Two Google services are built into the game: Google AdMob, which shows the ads that fund it, and Google Play Games, which you can choose to sign in to for cloud save, leaderboards and achievements. If you sign in, your progress is also saved to your Google account.
Data Stored on Your Device
Your progress (high score, coins, unlocked characters and cosmetics, perks, achievements, missions, daily challenge and season progress) is saved with Android's DataStore in the app's private storage. These values are encrypted with AES-256-GCM, using a key that is created and held in the Android Keystore on your device and cannot be exported from it.
Your settings (sound, controls, graphics and reminders), your play statistics (such as jumps, runs and distance climbed) and the replay of your best run are stored in the same file without encryption.
This save file is excluded from Android's cloud backup and from device-to-device transfer, so it is not copied to your Google account backup. Progress moves between devices only through Google Play Games cloud save, if you sign in.
Data Collection & Analytics
Bouncy Buddies does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or location, and it requests no location, camera, microphone, contacts or storage permission. The motion sensor used for tilt controls is read on the device only. The game contains no analytics or crash-reporting service, and MEDEV Studios does not receive data about you or how you play. The Google services described below collect data under Google's own policies.
Advertising
Bouncy Buddies is funded by ads and has no in-app purchases. Ads are served by Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK). Rewarded videos play only when you tap a button offering a reward, such as a revive or extra coins. The game also shows an occasional full-screen ad when you leave a run, no more than once every three runs and every two minutes.
To serve and measure ads, AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID, your IP address and the approximate location derived from it, and information about your device and the app, and it may use Android's ad services features where available. Google processes this data under the Google Privacy Policy; see also how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Before any ad is requested, the game uses Google's User Messaging Platform to check whether your consent is required where you are, for example in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom. If it is, a consent form is shown on the main menu, and ads are requested only if your answer allows it. You can change your choice at any time under Settings → Privacy → Privacy options, which appears when a consent choice applies to you. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your device's Android settings.
Google Play Games (Optional)
Signing in to Google Play Games is optional; you can play as a guest. The Play Games service starts when the game launches, but the game sends your data to Play Games only after you choose to sign in with Google on the welcome screen or in Settings. While you are signed in:
- Cloud save: your progress, settings and play statistics are saved to Play Games saved games in your Google account, so they can be restored after a reinstall or on another device. The cloud copy includes a random identifier for this installation, created only for cloud save and used only to tell this device's uploads apart from those of your other devices.
- Leaderboards and achievements: your high score is submitted to the Play Games leaderboard, and the achievements you unlock, including those earned before you signed in, are sent to your Play Games profile.
- Sign-in is handled by Google. The game does not read your name, email address or password.
Google holds this data under the Google Privacy Policy. You can sign out in Settings at any time. When you sign out, the game uploads your latest progress and, once Google confirms the upload, removes your progress from this device while keeping your settings. If the upload cannot be confirmed, your progress stays on the device.
Permissions
- Internet and network state: used for ads, the consent form and Google Play Games.
- Notifications: optional. Used for at most one reminder a day, in the early evening, about the daily challenge. The reminder is scheduled on your device, and you can turn it off in Settings.
- Vibration: haptic feedback during play.
- Advertising ID and Android ad services: added by the Google Mobile Ads SDK and used by Google to serve and measure ads.
- Wake lock and foreground service: added by Android's WorkManager library, which the game uses to schedule the daily reminder, and by the Google Mobile Ads SDK.
Children
Bouncy Buddies is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13. Its ad requests are not marked for child-directed treatment, so AdMob handles them as described above. MEDEV Studios does not knowingly collect personal information from children, and receives no personal information from the game.
Deleting Your Data
Uninstalling the game, or clearing its storage in Android settings, deletes everything it stores on your device. If you used cloud save, you can delete the saved game from your Google Play Games account settings. Data collected by AdMob is managed through your Google account and device ad settings.
